Sweet 16!

Sixteen years ago, Dulcie and I were preparing to become parents. Where does the time go? Now, here we are, getting ready to celebrate our oldest child turning 16! We are very proud of her and the young woman she is becoming. When we asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday, her response took us back a bit. She wanted to go to the beach for 2 days, but she wanted to bring the girls from New Vision and City of Refuge who were also turning 16. She wanted to make sure they had a nice 16th birthday party as well. What an unselfish attitude! She could have made this day all about her, but she chose to include others. As a parent, it really makes you proud when your child comes up with these kind of things all on their own.

What a huge lesson we can learn! Many times we want to make the situation all about us, when we should really be concerned about the well being of others...especially those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

This holiday season, let's all make it a priority to go out of our way to minister to someone who needs some extra attention or love. Too many times we make this season just about us and our family, but let's endeavor to reach out. Work at a homeless shelter, volunteer at a boys and girls club, or visit a nursing home and pass out cookies. Just a few hours or even a whole day can make the difference in someone's life this Christmas season. And really, in light of eternity, what's a few hours?

Extended Hands Ministries motto is: Helping Others Reach Up! Let's do just that this Christmas Holiday.

Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year! We love you all!
